lyrics

All that I have left as I leave for home is the peeling skin of a sunburn.
Leaving for this icy city and it all could have been a dream,
But you are waiting for me.

Red Leaves look like hearts, collecting them to fill my own.
If you push too hard, it'll break, and people too.

She never bought a hat, through all her winters in New York.
She never thought she'd be here so long.
Sometimes it goes too far and there's glass on the floor.
Little cuts on her little fingertips, but cleaning it all up is when it hurts.

How to endure all this stillness, the cold quiet that takes over.
If I have thicker skin maybe I wouldn't be in this sorry state.

There's another storm coming in and she is broken again.
The scars on her hands, constant reminders of the emptiness within.
